A warming spice blend with lovely grounding aromatic flavours & many health benefits.  Known as Pumpkin Spice in the USA + Canada; as Cake Spice, Mixed Spice or Baking Spice in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and beyond…


Pumpkin | Cake Spice is used in baking and sweet dishes and some savoury dishes. 

The ingredients vary, but the foundation is cinnamon + ginger + clove, typically nutmeg + allspice. 

An array of other spices can be added, like cardamom, star anise, fennel, mace, coriander and pepper. 



Spices not only have lovely warming, grounding aromatic flavours, they have many health benefits as well:


Cinnamon ~ blood sugar balancing + anti-fungal + anti-bacterial + digestive stimulant.
Ginger ~ anti-inflammatory + soothing digestive + anti-viral + circulation stimulant.
Nutmeg ~ anti-bacterial + anti-inflammatory + reduce anxiety + brain-memory stimulant.
Clove ~  digestion + anti-microbial + anti-inflammatory + analgesic-numbing.
Allspice ~ anti-fungal + digestive tonic + anti-septic + nervous system stimulant.



Basic Blends
  • 6 tsp gnd cinnamom
  • 2 tsp gnd ginger
  • 1/2 tsp gnd nugmeg
  • 1/2 tsp gnd clove
  • 1/2 tsp gnd allspice – optional
Add -in Ideas
  • 1/2-1 tsp gnd cardemom
  • 1/2 tsp gnd mace
  • 1/2 tsp gnd star anise
  • 1/2 tsp gnd coriander
  • 1/2 tsp gnd funnel
  • 1/4 – 1/2  tsp gnd lemon | orange peal


Pumpkin | Cake Spice Blend

MEASURE out spices into a small glass jar with a lid.


SHAKE well to blend.


STORE with the lid on a cupboard, draw or away from direct sunlight.

LARGE BATCHES – if you make large batches, store them in the freezer for maximum freshness.


SPICES DO NOT last forever…..spices lose their flavour and potency over time, just like everything else, so make sure your spices are fresh and aromatic.
